Marketing Communications Manager

Job Description

This position is in the Marshall University Marketing & Communications Department and reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

  • Helps to implement various initiatives to drive overall enrollment for the university.
  • Develops working relationships with key departments and personnel to gain insight into the various programs and services offered at Marshall University, including developing strategic marketing plans to drive interest.
  • Writes compelling, accurate, conversion-driven, and keyword-optimized copy for various platforms.
  • Manages project development from beginning to end. The position serves as a vital member of the department’s internal request system and manages project development from beginning to end.
  • Occasionally serves as a marketing communications consultant and counsels on achieving marketing goals.
  • Develops project briefs and assist the department in meeting its objectives in developing and writing communications, project plans, and collateral.
  • Assists with website content development and execution.
  • Plans and executes content for newsletters, blogs, and media releases.
  • Actively seeks out and writes stories (success, feature, analytical, community-focused, etc.) according to AP Style standards and the College Style guide that will contribute to collateral of the College, such as College magazine, Website, e-newsletters, brochures, etc.
  • Assists with media relations strategies, which include writing news releases.
  • Assists or manages university-wide projects and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range $45,700- $59,400 – Salary may be increased based off education, experience, and internal equity. Salary Type Salary Time Type Full-Time Work Location MU – Marshall University

Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degrees in journalism, communications, public relations, and marketing are preferred, but other degrees combined with unique skills will be considered.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience

  • 3-5 years of professional communications or marketing experience
