Marketing & Communications Engagement Manager

Job Description

The School of Theatre at Florida State University is seeking a dynamic Marketing & Community Engagement Manager to join our team. The position will oversee the marketing office and be responsible for developing and coordinating marketing programs, activities, and services for the School of Theatre, utilizing a variety of equipment and software. They will possess advanced knowledge of design principles to create content, including videos, for use in print, electronic, and social media. This position will oversee highly visible communications including newsletters and websites for distribution to students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and other constituents. This position will also manage the School’s community engagement programs, including the Patrons Association, Theatre for Young Audiences/Plays on School Days, community outreach efforts, student showcases, and the Music Theatre Intensive summer camp.

This position will oversee an annual operating budget up to $100,000 and may supervise students and hourly employees as needed. The ideal candidate can work closely and comfortably with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students in the School of Theatre and with members of the Tallahassee community and general public, including current and potential donors, sponsors, and advertising partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)


  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of marketing research techniques and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a successful marketing plan or strategy.
  • Knowledge of artistic and graphic layout techniques and art in a digital format.
  • Skill in analyzing and determining the most appropriate media for creation of graphic images.
  • A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Graphic Design, Arts Administration, Theatre Management, or related fields.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipate salary is low 50’s, commensurate with experience and education.
