Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Communications, Public Relations, or Sports Management. One year of experience in a related field. Experience in collegiate athletics is preferred. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Assists the Assistant Director for Fan Engagement in implementing marketing, promotions, and ticketing programs for the Department of Athletics through the Sam Houston State University Integrated Marketing Communications Division.
Primary Responsibilities
Develops and oversees the implementation of successful marketing plans for intercollegiate athletic teams and events. Prepares and executes detailed game scripts, including music direction, video content, public address announcements, and spirit squads, ensuring a high-quality fan experience for assigned sports. Promotes revenue generation opportunities and coordinates sponsorship activation and in-game presentations. Acts as a liaison for campus spirit groups and student organizations. Assists in hiring students or part-time staff to provide marketing support for athletic events and supervising athletic marketing students. Collaborates with sports teams to create seasonal event packages and promotional events. Assists in creating content for social media platforms. Works closely with third-party sports property agents to create attractive promotional packages for sponsorships. Works with Ticket Operations to develop and implement season, single game, and group sales campaigns. Manages student staff to achieve department marketing objectives and timelines, assists in the development of student and marketing schedules. Develops and implements events and promotions that would make up seasonal marketing calendars. Works with vendors on and off campus to produce necessary promotional/support items for events while operating with established budgets. Establishes goals and strategies for assigned projects. Plans, assigns, and supervises students or part-time staff and vendors who perform work for the university/division/department. Performs other related duties as assigned.

An organized and motivated leader committed to customer service and high standards for quality work is required. Requires excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies. Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and related software is preferred.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
