Human Resources Analyst

Job Description

This position is part of a team that administers the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) at Michigan State University. The position includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Administers the student health insurance program for graduate assistants, medical students, international students and other student groups.
  • Develops and implements initiatives related to student and graduate assistant insurance.
  • Resolves complex problems and escalated student insurance inquiries.
  • Troubleshoots vendor, enrollment and student health insurance waiver issues.
  • Reviews and edits communications and website information related to student insurance.
  • Proactively partners with MSU medical schools, offices, constituent groups and vendors to design and administer effective student insurance processes as well as educate students about student insurance options and requirements.
  • Partners with Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) to ensure international students receive health insurance that meets VISA requirements.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Human Resources Administration or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in human resources administration, data and/or statistical analysis, and/or program development and implementation in a Human Resource area related to the area of benefits; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

We are seeking an adaptable, deadline-oriented and self-motivated professional with experience within human resources and/or University settings. The ideal candidate would have demonstrated written and verbal communications skills, exceptional organizational skills; a strong customer service orientation; experience using SAP/EBS/Campus Solutions; possess a strong work ethic; be collaborative, have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn quickly.
