Central Garden & Pet is looking for a DTC Web Developer for the Dog & Cat businesses supporting Best Bully Sticks. This role will sit on the E-Commerce and Digital Marketing team reporting into the Digital Marketing Manager, and support Website Projects, Email Marketing, & Paid Digital Advertising. Seeking a dog loving DTC Web Developer who is creative and passionate about creating AMAZING ecommerce user experiences. The candidate will be responsible for the tactical day-to-day site and Shopify app needs of our website. This role is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on a growing ecommerce website. From maintaining website functionality, to understanding, finding, and implementing UX solutions, this candidate will have an enthusiastic outlook on direct-to-consumer (DTC) practices. The candidate will excel in technical thinking to support website, product, and UX recommendations. The candidate will have a passion for Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) testing from ideation to execution to increase the business core KPIs. Bonus if the candidate has experience with ecommerce subscription services. As the Shopify Web Developer, you will be a key player in executing eCommerce front end and back end updates and streamlining the customer experience. This is a cross-functional role, working across multiple channels to develop creative solutions to convert organic traffic into happy customers.
Measures Of Success
- Develop, Customize, and Maintain DTC Website.
- Manage Shopify apps and integrations.
- Build and customize themes and plugins/apps on Shopify platform.
- Implement custom design elements, modify existing themes, and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Integrate third-party APIs, tools, and plugins to enhance website functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth operation and user experience.
- Set up and configure settings (payments, shipping, checkout), and integrate Google Analytics updates as needed.
- Focus on enhancing user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) by implementing responsive designs, improving navigation, and optimizing loading times.
- Integrate modern design trends and ensure consistency across different devices and browsers.
- Enhance accessibility features to meet compliance standards and improve usability for all users.
- Implement interactive elements, animations, and other dynamic content to create a more engaging user experience.
- Update backend logic to support new features, streamline processes, and improve overall functionality.
- Ensure seamless integration with third-party APIs, tools, and services to enhance the website’s capabilities.
- Optimize website performance for speed, responsiveness, and cross-device functionality.
- Develop and implement custom features such as promo functionalities (e.g., BOGO, Free Gift with Purchase) and loyalty program integrations.
- Modify and enhance content blocks, 404 pages, and other static content.
- Work closely with digicomm team, designers, and app account managers to deliver projects on time.
- Provide ongoing team support, managing tasks and deadlines efficiently using asana.
- Research and recommend the best tools, plugins, third-party software, and approaches for achieving desired features.
- Stay updated on e-commerce best practices, trends, and new technologies.
- Use stage environment to test new enhancements and lead team QA to ensure seamless project launches.
- Monitor and maintain site functionality, identifying bugs or issues before they impact users.
- Continually monitor websites to enhance site speed and performance.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support to ensure the website runs smoothly post-launch.
- Focus on improving the website’s ability to convert visitors into customers by optimizing key site elements.
- Implement A/B testing on different elements to identify what drives higher conversion rates.
- Regularly test site speed, load times, and overall performance, making adjustments to optimize efficiency.
Ideal Candidate Attributes
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.
- 2+ years of working on DTC website with focus on web developing, CRO, and app management.
- Strong front-end development skills with proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript in Liquid, AJAX, and libraries like jQuery.
- Experience with Shopify’s Liquid template language and page builders.
- Minimum 1 years of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) experience with specific impact and results you can speak to and share.
- Proficiency using the applications within MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills and a service-oriented approach are a must.
- Strong self-direction and initiative; willingness to take complete ownership over specific activities while adapting to quick changing shifts in priorities.
- Eagerness to test and learn, with a willingness to fail, but the drive to succeed.
- Outstanding problem solving and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be agile and adapt while being a team player.
- Ability to thrive in a creative, fast-paced environment that emphasizes excellence and teamwork.
- Self-starting and proactive in conducting comprehensive research and making strategic recommendations to the team.
