Job Description

Key Job Responsibilities/Expectations:

· Establishes short- and long-term goals for growth, identifies key priorities, manages budget and team members/consultants to execute effective strategies.

· Provides strategic, creative leadership and implementation of all development-related activities for the organization.

· Develops and grows major giving programs to achieve increased individual donor and institutional partner support to achieve greater year-over-year revenue streams. Strengthens and builds relationships to diversify and increase support.

· Manages electronic fundraising tools and donor management tools, making recommendations on system enhancements and how to best utilize resources these resources to increase revenue streams.

· Works together with CEO/COO to manage the Memorial’s planned/legacy giving program and gifts that help build the Memorial’s endowment and long-term future.

· Organizes strategic meetings with prospects/donors and CEO/Board members to cultivate support.

· Works collaboratively with CEO/COO to lead institutional/corporate partnership program, developing sponsor packages and programs that sustain/grow partners to support the Memorial.

· Manages the Memorial’s grantmaking program, devising strategies/plans with the grantmaking team to conduct research, and write grants to secure grant funding.

· Works together with the finance/accounting team to manage donor database (Salesforce) systems, to enhance existing technology, and utilize database and communications systems to expand donor, prospect outreach, and giving. This includes leading donor appeals programs that use electronic, social media, and print.

· Works together with COO, programs, and event team to support the Memorial’s major community and fundraising events.

· Oversees messaging, branding, and development materials/collateral, including sponsorship proposals, appeal letters, correspondence, annual reports, etc. Work together with the public relations team and outside consultants to create marketing collateral and social media campaigns.

· Serves as an external-facing ambassador for the Memorial, representing the mission, vision and values of the organization in the local community and its national reputation.

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies: Highly entrepreneurial; resourceful, and flexible; able to anticipate and act on events and opportunities that advance the Memorial’s mission, locally, regionally and nationally. Previous experience effectively managing fundraising or development programs in the non-profit, business or political organization a must. Strong relationships with high-end donors and within institutional and business organizations’ giving programs is crucial, along with experience in public relations, prospecting, business development, and negotiation. Key qualifications include persuasive writing, strong verbal communication, and executive-level interaction skills. Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, nonprofit leadership, nonprofit management, or any other related field.

Experience & Competencies:

· A minimum of 4-6 years of development experience with proven success in effectively managing and growing individual, institutional, and/or corporate giving programs.

  • A proven record of success in achieving higher revenue streams through donor, institutional, and grant-making programs that meet and exceed annual fundraising goals.
  • Experience developing and implementing major capital campaign initiatives.

· A natural connector with constituencies at all levels and the ability to build new relationships. Proven relationships within the non-profit and business community – locally and nationally – with a proven track record in donor cultivation and fundraising program management.

  • Strong experience using and managing electronic/technology-based fundraising tools and programs to expand and grow donor support. Salesforce knowledge a plus.

· Strategic, organized, and able to consistently balance multiple, competing priorities. Proven ability to work independently and manage internal and external teams to execute programs and serve as a mentor/counselor to board members, volunteers, and colleagues.

  • Strong experience in organizing major fundraising events, galas, and other donor-cultivation opportunities.
  • Experience assessing development programs and creating/implementing strategic plans to successfully increase revenues and donor support.
  • Team builder and a proven communicator with strong skills in management and leadership.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsets and strategic mindset/vision and ability to execute the writing of grants, donor appeals, and effective marketing/communications materials.
  • Excellent organizational and advanced technological skills, proficient in the MS Office Suite, Salesforce, and various donor management tools/systems, email marketing/communications programs, social media platforms, and other electronic database/budget programs.

· Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends to support development and program events and activities.

Start Date:Immediate opening.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, exempt position. The annual salary starts at ______ commensurate with experience with the ability to earn a performance bonus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
