Job Description
The University of Northern Iowa Metal Casting Center is a nationally recognized leader in foundry research, applied technology, and technical business assistance. Two facilities allow us to enhance research and testing. The materials research and foundry focused site is located in the Industrial Technology Center (ITC) on campus at UNI. The Foundry 4.0 Center featuring North America’s largest commercially available 3D printer is located at Cedar Valley TechWorks in Waterloo. Our efforts and projects link university-grade research, resources, and students to private sector applications.
The Center is adding an Assistant Project Manager to its team. The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for: assisting the Project Engineering Manager or Director in identifying client needs and interests and determines the nature/extent of Center assistance required; participating in on-site assessments of client foundry operations; managing assigned center research programs; planning and coordinating center production foundry operations; and assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and funding requests.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering or related field required.
Required Qualifications:
At least two years of commercial metal casting industry experience required. Student experience will be considered. Occasional travel will be necessary.
Desirable Qualifications:
Master’s degree and experience with applied research in foundry operations preferred.
