Job Overview

Macy’s has launched an online Marketplace and we are seeking an Assistant, Marketplace Business Development who will support growing a Marketplace that accelerates Macy’s Inc. Fashion and Style leadership ambitions. This entrepreneurial role will require strong communication and analytical skills to support in identifying, sourcing, and securing long-lasting partnerships with new Marketplace sellers at Macy’s. Internally, this individual will report to the Senior Manager of Marketplace Business Development and work closely with Digital, Merchandising, and other cross-functional partners across the enterprise to support the execution of the growth strategy for Marketplace. Externally, this role will be responsible for vetting prospective sellers, sourcing contacts, conducting outreach while managing inbound leads through various platforms.

Essential Functions

Support the Senior Manager, Marketplace Business Development in ensuring successful execution of the Marketplace growth strategy.
Support executing on the strategy behind the category, curation, and merchandising strategy for our Marketplace, recruiting the right set of strategic sellers to enhance Macy’s Inc. customer experience.
Utilize data analytics tools to pull and analyze category performance data across Macy’s channels to translate into executable actions through a marketplace platform.
Generate reports and visualizations to communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
Conduct initial vetting, contact collection, and outreach/follow-ups with potential partners and manage inbound inquiries.
Manage calendar invites and updates in Salesforce for seamless coordination within the team.
Learn and develop skills to pitch sellers and effectively communicate the value proposition of our business model.
Develop deep knowledge of the Macy’s brand and customers to ensure the marketplace reflects appropriately.
Execute on all administrative tasks as needed to support Marketplace growth.

Qualifications and Competencies

Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university
1-2 years of relevant work experience
Possess knowledge of, and passion for, digital commerce and specifically marketplace platforms.
Excellent communication, sales, and facilitation skills (oral, written, and listening). Ability to understand, organize, and communicate complex information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences.
Excellent attention to detail while multitasking in fast paced environment.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Customer-centric mindset and experience with cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to solve problems with internal and external stakeholders and be a self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Ability to effectively share technical information and communicate technical issues / solutions to all levels of business.
Ability to juggle multiple projects – can identify primary and secondary objectives, prioritize tasks, and communicate informative updates to team members.
