Job Description
Responsible for championing the Company’s social media presence, strategy management and execution; content and campaign planning and development; community management; and channel performance and community sentiment reporting. Responsible for maintaining an advanced level of applied expertise across all popularized social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Threads, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Continually seek out relevant cultural trends that can be turned into content opportunities that build relevance and increase awareness and consideration. Partners closely with other team members and key departments to create and deliver cohesive, consumer-focused and brand-consistent messages.
1. Leads the day-to-day management of the brand’s social media marketing strategy through content planning, creation and publishing, aligning with brand standards, marketing objectives and business priorities.
2. Partners with the Integrated Media, Marketing Strategy and Creative teams to plan, create, optimize and report on social media content across all active social media channels.
3. Creates, maintains, and publishes a social media calendar, ensuring consistency across social media channels and with all external marketing channels.
4. Leads and provides direction to creative partners on tailored, channel-specific content across all social media platforms to optimize engagement, impressions, traffic, and reach.
5. Measures, benchmarks, analyzes, and reports on content performance both qualitatively and quantitively to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization that enhance the customers’ experience as well as the overall social media plan.
6. Serves as a key contact for existing and potential vendors, agencies, and social network partners.
7. Plays an active role in Big Lots’ Influencer Marketing program, including, participating in campaign strategy development, influencer selection and content review, collaborating with the team and agency partners, and proactively identifying and driving opportunities to grow and expand our Influencer Relations work.
8. Identifies opportunities to amplify influencer and user-generated content across social media as well as other marketing channels, including site, paid advertising, email, and more.
9. Monitors trends across all social media channels (paid and organic) and appropriately applies that knowledge to increase the effectiveness of Big Lots social media efforts.
Qualification
1. Minimum of three years of experience managing social media and influencer marketing programs for retail or CPG brands required.
2. In-depth knowledge of all popularized social channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Threads, LinkedIn & Pinterest) required.
3. Bachelors Degree preferred.
4. Experience with social media management platforms such as SproutSocial and Sprinklr as well as monitoring, tracking and reporting on content performance required.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines required.
6. A strong sense of curiosity and an eagerness to be among the first to learn and test new features, channels and new approaches that drive innovation and performance required.
7. Excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong attention to detail required.
8. Strong analytical and exceptional organizational skills required.
9. Familiarity with Microsoft’s suite of products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
10. High degree of professionalism, flexibility and initiative.
