What you’ll be doing at WDAV
Marketing Coordinator Responsibilities
- Work with Marketing Director to develop and execute a clear and consistent communications strategy that leverages WDAV’s social media, email, and audience metrics to build audience, convert listeners into donors, increase attendance at WDAV events, create an excellent listener experience, and build a diverse and inclusive community focused on classical music
- Elevate WDAV’s profile in the national classical music landscape through excellent use of social media and content curation
- Create and publish content to WDAV’s various social media platforms to foster a sense of community and interconnectedness among our audience and to keep them informed about station programs, events, and activities
- Collect, analyze, and report digital marketing metrics to inform long-term strategy
- Leverage paid promotion opportunities on social media and other digital platforms to reach target audiences with relevant content
- Pursue digital cross-promotion opportunities with community partners to promote local and regional arts and culture content, creating mutually beneficial outcomes
- Assist with the production of WDAV’s weekly subscriber e-newsletters to provide engaging and informative content to our core audience
- Promote WDAV’s brand in coordination with WDAV’s Marketing Director by assisting in the production of marketing materials such as banners, flyers, pamphlets, posters, and promotional items;
- Assist with coordinating the production of WDAV events to increase station visibility and build audience relationships in the communities we serve;
- Periodically represent WDAV in a marketing capacity at relevant cultural events in the region to build relationships with our arts partners and to position WDAV as a key player in the local arts and culture scene
- Promote a collegial, cooperative atmosphere by participating in Davidson College – College Relations division trainings, meetings, retreats, and other events and committees as needed
- Contribute to the collaborative culture of WDAV by enthusiastically offering ideas, time, and support to other WDAV colleagues

- Interest and proficiency in a variety of social media platforms
- Up-to-date knowledge of current social media trends
- Curiosity and an interest in research
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of writing styles
- Keen understanding of the importance of constituent data confidentiality
- Positive attitude and collaborative mindset, in keeping with the culture of WDAV
- Inclination toward seeking clarity and creating an atmosphere of mutual benefit and understanding
- Eagerness to contribute to a mission-driven organization that fosters excellence, community-mindedness, and inclusion
- Openness to working some evenings and weekends when there are major events
- Intrinsic motivation to perform job functions with excellence to grow personally and professionally and to create the best possible outcomes for WDAV
- Innovative problem-solving skills
- Adaptable/flexible personality that demonstrates an ability to prioritize and re-prioritize gracefully, based on the quickly changing needs of the organization
- Inclination toward noticing when a business practice or process could be improved and confidence to share those observations and offer potential solutions
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree in communication, media studies, creative writing, business, or other relevant field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in Canva or equivalent software
- Some knowledge and appreciation of classical music is preferred
- Ability to parse, process, digitize, analyze, and extract data using analytics tools
- Event planning experience
- A valid driver’s license or reliable transportation

College Relations is committed to salary transparency in the hiring process as a characteristic of an inclusive organization. Our salaries are benchmarked to national liberal arts colleges and regional colleges and universities.
